Logic is only the xxTP'S default and they can no more change it that you can change your feelings-defaultand when they are stressed or worried, they fall back on their default.
If you are patient, give them space, stop criticising their natural temperament, they will eventually open up to warm, affectionate feelings. They do have them, same as everyone else, and among them is the wanting to be loved by their own parents. But feelings are super vulnerable to xxTP's.
